As most gamers and collectors probably know, Sony celebrated the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation by launching 12300 limited edition PS4s. Even though this is probably the best looking PS4 to date, Colorware, customizers and creators of bespoke, creative and fashionable electronic devices, decided to take it one step further. Using the recently released PS4 Pro as a base, the company decided to give the console their own retro spin. The result? The fabulous machine you see in the video below, dubbed the PS4 Pro Ultimate Retro Special Edition:
For those of you unable to watch the video above, here are some of the highlights:
This extremely limited run of consoles recalls the classic aesthetic of the original PlayStation (arguably more than Sony’s 20th Anniversary console), but there’s more to it than a new splash of color. For starters. the two USB ports are labeled ‘1’ and ‘2’, similar to the controller ports on Sony’s first home console. The ‘Sony’ and ‘PS4’ markings spouts the same blueish-green as the power and open buttons on the PSOne, and the PlayStation logo is orientated in a similar fashion as its younger sibling. Even the colour of the analogue stick’s rubber matches that found on the original PlayStation controller.
The only problem with the console is the fact that it is sold out. Colorware only made 25 of these magnificent machines and they are all spoken for. Fortunately, all it not lost. If you act now, you can buy the company’s latest creation, the PlayStation 4 Retro. Based on the PS4 Slim, this console has similar cosmetic features as its beefier brother. You have to be quick, though, as this is also an extremely limited run and only 50 are available. If you decide to take the plunge, you can order yours here.
