If you were born in the 90’s, you may be well acquainted with a small electronic device that housed a crying, pooping and overly needy creature, usually in the shape of a dinosaur. If this rings a bell, then you will appreciate the fact that the hit mobile game by Bethesda, Fallout Shelter, is now available on Xbox One and Windows 10. For those of you who don’t know the game, it is basically like raising 20 tamagotchis on steroids, at the same time.
Fallout Shelter is a ridiculously fun base building simulator set in the Fallout universe. It is your job as Vault Overseer to increase population and keep your people fed, happy and free of radiation. There are many unpredictable events that can plague your vault and cause serious damage to your progress, such as fires, bandit raids, and rad-roaches nesting in your pantries. The game features many characters from prior Fallout games that you can add to your vault population, and all characters can be customised with armour and weaponry. You will need to upgrade base facilities, send scouting parties into the wastelands and keep your people in line to survive the world in which humanity is all but obliterated. The game also features a lunchbox reward system, where every lunchbox contains 5 cards or items used to improve your vault.
For the keen eye, the game holds many delights and Easter eggs. Like most Bethesda games, there are some subtle innuendos and various scenes of comic relief. See if you can find some of them in your own vault.
Fallout Shelter released for Windows on 7 February. Be sure to grab it from the store on your PC or Xbox.
